After an all day editing session we got our first draft of our conspiracy theory project. We showed this to Tom, one of our lecturers at the University, and recommended to us to shorten the film, which was sitting just above 4 minutes in length. He suggested that we could remove some of the weaker evidence and a montage of Elvis 'through-the-years' that we had including at the end of the film. We made note of these and made the necessary adjustments, however, we all believe that the removal of some of our evidence actually weakened the piece.

After following this advice, we managed to shorten the length of the film so that it fitted the brief given to us at the beginning of the project. We also gained some peer feedback during one of our group sessions; other groups watched through our film and gave us specific feedback with regards to pacing, strength of the argument and the overall film. We received a decent amount of positive feedback. The majority of people felt that our pacing was extremely effective and that the introduction was strong.

However, we did get our fair share of constructive feedback which, we have all taken on board for our next project:

  • Place crew names at the end of the film rather than the beginning, this will enable the film to begin sooner and engage the audience quicker.

  • Add text at the beginning/end that explains that the footage you have used it not your own and that you do not hold the rights to it (disclaimer).

  • Add more evidence to the end of your film – the stuff you have is good, but could be stronger
