Today we started shooting for our dialogue scene recreation project. As a crew we decided to recreate the interrogation scene from Nightcrawler.

We ran into a lot of issues with this project. We had two weeks to complete this project so we decided to get started straight away so that we had time to reshoot if needed. First of all we ended up being a crew member down as Adam could not make it to the day of shooting. This made it difficult as we had more roles to fill than available crew members. However, we still decided to persevere and continue with the shoot.

We had found an available room in one of the buildings on campus. This was the next issue as the room we had did not fit the style of the room from the scene. It also was not the best room to achieve the lighting we needed in. This then caused us to take around 45 minutes to rearrange the room to how we needed it and to figure out the framing of shots and lighting positions. By this time we only had and hour and fifteen minutes to film as the room was only available for two hours.

I ended up having to star in the scene but because it was a short notice decision I didn't have time to learn the lines off by heart. This became an issue quickly especially given the short amount of time we had to film. One of the other crew members also had to star in it and she had the same issue. After a break until the room was available again and multiple takes and attempts to get the framing right and lighting correct we ended up having to completely abandon this scene. This was a shame as we all really liked the scene, and the film itself, so we wanted to be able to pull it off.

So, after this we head back to research to locate another scene that was well within our reach to recreate.
